A Love Story

This picture pretty much explains it. For as long as I can remember, I have loved horses. This should not be surprising considering I am proud to be a Kentucky girl. Some of my most vivid Christmas mornings involve some sort of horse paraphernalia (a stuffed horse, a plastic horse farm, a book about horses). This always produced a dilemma of emotions as what I was really hoping for was a real, breathing, living horse. I cant recall which year I stopped asking for a horse... but it was likely that I was in my teens.

Fast forward to February 25, 2009. I am walking in the local flea market this afternoon.... and he catches my eye:
There was a flutter of my heart and a urgent need to make him mine. To articulate the depth of my love for this iron horse, you must know that I carried (rather, clutched tightly) to this probably 25 lb horse for an hour around this market. My back is aching (no, I'm not out of shape!) and my arms are tired, but my heart is happy. I am the proud owner of a horse. And I can't wait to find a home for him in our new place! I'm even thinking a prominent place like the living room coffee table. I love him that much.

Also wanted to share a couple other things... Just got in some 1800s botanical prints that I ordered of Ebay:
I am planning on framing them in a dark wood and hanging them above the couch in the living room.

Also, a fun print that I found at the Pottery Barn outlet (75% off!!)... I got the duvet cover and two Euro shams to use in the guest bedroom. I was really pleased. The best part was that I chose it before I saw that it was 75% off. Then I knew it must be destiny!

Happy Hump Day!

Amy Butler

My love of the night... Amy Butler's fabric. I want all of it. Visions of curtains and chair cushions are dancing in my head.
I'm thinking of the above for my laundry room. I'm thankful that I haven't ordered what I thought I wanted before... I would have been so dissapointed when I finally came across these masterpieces!

For the Love...

I entered into this blog world not knowing exactly where I fit in. And now I know. The interior design world! I will be the first in line to admit that I am amateur at best. I can't even name two top designers of our time. Couldn't even spit off a few designer fabric lines. But what I do know is what is beautiful. At least to me. And I have a love for it!

I often wonder if I had a few other lives to live (I don't believe in reincarnation, for the record), what would I do with them? I love what I do.... I love being in ministry and being a part of changing the world, but there are so many passions in life that we just don't have the time (or money) to pursue. I think if I were granted a couple extra life times, interior design would be something I would just have to pursue. I know there are more of my breed out there so you'll know what I'm talking about, but there is just something about a well-placed wire basket or a just-right lamp shade that makes my heart race!

Can't explain it. Other than God is beautiful and He put the desire in all of our hearts to seek after Him... thus we love beauty. Some more than others. In me He has hightened this sense for the beautiful and so, doggonnit, I'm gonna blog about it!

So for my first post... here is just a glimpse of some "loves":
This color combination (towels from west elm).... specifically the papaya and steel blue. I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my future bathroom/guest bath.

Good window treatments and seemingly out of place light fixtures.

White subway tile in the kitchen.... I am also currently drooling over the fab copper kitchen-aid mixer and the industrial pendant over the sink. This has many elements of my dream kitchen!

That's all for now.
